Today is our wedding anniversary! Four years married today. I couldn't be more blessed.
In honor of my husband that I adore so much I decided to write all the things I love so much about him. I have to say that I keep learning about him every day. Last night we were asking each other questions and I thought I'd know all the answers, but I found myself saying, "Really?! I didn't know that about you." We must always be constant learners of our spouses. As I've heard people say before, first you must get your diploma in your spouse, then your degree, masters, and keep working on your doctorate in your spouse! I think I'm still working on my diploma, haha.
Without further ramblings, here are some things you may not know about Piet:
1. He is one of the most generous people I know. He is always thinking about others and how he can help them out. He always wishes he could do more. I think if he earned lots of money, he'd give tons of it away.
2. He grew up with very little, but this makes him who he is now. He sometimes talks about having an old rice bag as a backpack and shoes that were 3 sizes too big. Because he didn't have a lot when he was young, he makes sure that Harmony (and all future kids) will never ever go without. He wants the absolute best for his kids.
3. He is incredibly helpful around the house. He's actually a lot cleaner than I am and can't relax in a messy house. He helps with dishes, sweeping, vacuuming, changing diapers, and generally just keeping our house in a working order. I'm so thankful that he doesn't expect me to do everything!
4. He is more forgiving than most. Things do bother him and he gets hurt and upset by things and people, but he is quick to forgive. He takes the principle of forgiving 70x7 times very seriously. He always sees the best in others and believes in second and third chances.
5. He is passionate. He loves the Lord, to worship, music, reading, and fellowshipping.
6. He wears his clothes inside out at least once a week. Definitely not on purpose. I think he is so preoccupied with other things that clothes aren't on the forefront of his mind. It gives us a good laugh, though. :)
7. If it were up to him, he'd only eat once a day. Coffee is a close acquaintance of his. Eating "real" food takes too much time when he could be doing other things. When we are together I have to remind him that it's time for me to eat.
8. He's much better with people than I am. He is such a warm and loving person. He has no enemies and everyone becomes an instant friend. The petrol station attendant, the traffic cop who pulls him over, the lady bagging our groceries, etc.
9. He doesn't really care about TV or movies but indulges in them because they are important to me and help me relax and unwind. We've even deemed one night a week as family movie night.
10. He's a good cook. He doesn't cook that often, but when he does he is so creative and the food is always very good. Oh, and he'll never recreate the same thing twice. When I ask, "What's in this?" he responds with, "I don't know, I just added stuff."
11. He used to play professional soccer, but gave it up because of corruption and God's higher calling and purpose for his life. God has such a great call on his life and he seeks everyday to make sure and fulfill this purpose.
12. He makes things happen. He is the type of person to keep pushing for things to happen. He doesn't easily take no for an answer. He wants to see greatness in others as well as himself.
I could carry on and on. He is an amazing human being. I love you Piet. As I said in my vows, you are a treasure.
